Hello, there!
I’m Aubrey, and I’m so honored you stopped by The Enchanted Apron.
The Enchanted Apron is inspired by my affection for baking, cooking, and eating tasty food, and the endeavor to make it all non-dairy. If you haven’t read my page, Why Dairy-Free?, head on over to get a deeper explanation of why I’ve eliminated dairy products from my diet. The short and sweet is that my body reacts negatively when I consume even the slightest amount of dairy. Runny nose; itchy, watery eyes; digestive problems…it all happens to me.
You’ll also find recipes that cater to other diets like gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. My lifestyle is not gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, or the like, but I always enjoy experimenting in those areas for more variety.
My Story
Growing up, I enjoyed baking, cooking, and making art out of food. I eventually decided I wanted to make a career out of my fascination for food. So, when I was 18-years-old, my parents helped me pack my belongings and moved me into a little studio in Chicago. I attended The French Pastry School, where I completed the L’Art de la Pâtisserie program. After graduation, I worked at several pastry shops, bakeries, and restaurants before deciding to go back to school for my bachelor’s degree.
I continued to work in the food industry while completing my Bachelor of Science, Science & Agricultural Journalism, at the University of Missouri-Columbia. My current profession is graphic and website design, but I obviously still love to bake, cook, and write about food.
Behind the Name
I’m obsessed with adorable aprons almost as much as cute coffee mugs. They are so addictive! Somehow, when I’m looking at an apron in the store, I forget about the collection I already have at home… If it wasn’t for the responsibility of keeping a budget, I would walk out of every Anthropologie store with all of their aprons–probably a mug too!
In honor of my obsession for cute aprons, I dubbed the blog, The Enchanted Apron. I imagine a magical apron solving the problems of every cook or baker out there like Aladdin’s magic carpet or Cinderella’s fairy godmother.
I hope you enjoy your time here and come back soon.
